How to Cancel Your Inteligator Membership

I wanted to add a quick comment prior to you reading further.  I have received literally hundreds of comments on this article.  Unfortunately, nearly every comment is some variation on a request that I cancel someone’s inteligator account.  Let me again clearly state that I DO NOT OWN INTELIGATOR!  I wrote this to help people who are confused as to how to cancel their subscription.  For those of you who wish to share a comment at the end of this article, I welcome you!  But please do not ask me to cancel your subscription as I have no way of doing this for you!  Now, on to the article…..

I have had many people ask me how to cancel a recurring membership with Inteligator.  Let me first say that in my opinion, none of the “unlimited” background check services are worth much.  Background checks cost too much to produce for a company to offer unlimited access for basically the same price as a single decent report.  Bottom line, this goes back to the common statement that, “You get what you pay for”.  If you are serious about needing a background check, then you ought to be using a service that charges on a “per report” basis.

In regards to inteligator, I have noticed that some overly aggressive salespeople (in no way affiliated with this blog or me personally) have failed to mention that this is a recurring billing program.  Even though the fact that this is a product that bills customers on a monthly basis is clearly stated on the checkout page, many people have not seen or noticed that information.  They do not realize they are being billed monthly until they see the charge on their credit card a month or two down the line.  This creates some very unhappy customers!

So, for those of you seeking to cancel your subscription to Inteligator for whatever reason, let me walk you through the process.  But before I d0 so, allow me to again clarify that I DO NOT OWN Inteligator.com!  I chose to write this article as a personal courtesy to the many people who have come to me seeking advice on how to cancel their monthly subscription to the Inteligator Unlimited Background check plan.   I am not exactly sure why everyone isn’t simply asking Inteligator directly.  But either way, I am happy to do all I can to help people understand what they need to do.  No one should ever face a situation where they purchased an online product or service and then have no idea how to return the product or cancel the service.

As for the cancellation procedure itself, this has changed several times over the last couple years so you should be sure to visit Inteligator’s “Terms or Service Agreement” page  in order to make sure you have the most accurate information.  Following is some pertinent information from that page:

Terms of Purchase
Payment of fees for purchases of InteliGator services must be made with either a valid credit or debit card (Payment Information). If your Payment Information is insufficient, or not accurate, current, and complete, and you do not notify us promptly when such information changes, we may suspend or terminate your account and refuse any use of InteliGator.

You may choose to purchase a 3, 4, 7 or 14 day trial to InteliGator’s Basic or Advanced membership. If you decide to cancel within the trial period, you will only be
charged the trial period fee. To cancel during the trial period, contact InteliGator within the trial period by sending in your cancelation request to cancellations@inteligator.com.  Please note that trial period fees are billed in advance; we will not refund the unused portion of your trial period.

Following the trial period, your membership fees (Fees) will be billed to the credit or debit card provided as part of your Payment Information on a one-time yearly or monthly recurring basis, depending upon your chosen membership level.
Inteligator has recently also provided a specific page on their website to assist their customers through the cancellation process.  You can access that page by CLICKING HERE.  According to what I read in Inteligator’s documentation, you must submit your cancellation request 24 hours before the deadline of either your trial or the beginning of your next billing cycle in order to avoid further charges.  Personally, I think this is a bunch of garbage!  You should never be required to submit a request to terminate a service 24 hours before the deadline!  They should allow you to submit your request anytime prior to the actual deadline but that is how they do it so be warned!

I hope this information helps and welcome any comments, suggestions or questions.  If you are serious about running a background check then visit CompleteReviews.net for reviews of the best, most legitimate background check providers on the internet.

    • You need to send an email to cancellations@inteligator.com. This site is just a blog reviewing different public record search services. Inteligator.com is the company that owns this product and handles subscriptions and cancellations. I just wrote this post as I get many people asking questions about cancelling their service. Just follow the instructions on this article and they will stop your service.

    • Hi Debra,

This site is a blog that reviews different public record search options. We do not own any product but simply provide information. We posted this article on how to cancel a subscription to Inteligator as it is a question we have been frequently asked. All you need to do is send an email to cancellations@inteligator.com with your Inteligator login id at least 24 hours before you next billing cycle and your subscription will be terminated. In my experience, Inteligator’s customer service has been responsive and fair.

If you do not receive an adequate response from Inteligator, please let us know as it will change how we view them!

The purpose of this article is to provide you with the necessary information to cancel the subscription you have with Inteligator. That is the company you need to contact to cancel your subscription. Just send an email to cancellations@inteligator.com with your Inteligator login id and request your subscription be cancelled.

Let me know if they do not repond.

      • I understand that this site is just a blog sight but I think what ppl are trying to say is that NONE of the links to ~cancellations@inteligator.com~ works on this blog sight or on the Inteligator site. No, they do NOT make it easy to cancell in time and there are no simple directions to follow. When you click on the “you may cancell at any time to do so click here” under terms on the Inteligator web site it just directs you to the help center that has no “help” listed for unsubscribing. When you fill out the customer contact form stateing what you need help with cancelling they take an auto 48 hours to get back to you. Not very forth right on Inteligators part.

  5. I wish to cancel and your cancellation link does not work. I want to limit my expense to the $4.95 as advertised. This is inappropriate to not have the cancellation link in service. Notify me immediately.
    Thank you.

    • Hi Brad,

I just wanted to let you know that this blog has no direct ties to Inteligator. It is a blog dedicated to covering different public record search products. I saw a lot of comments on cancelling the Inteligator service so I posted an article on how to do it. From what I know, you just send an email to cancellations@inteligator.com saying you want to end your service.

What link are you referring to?
Also, I do know that the $4.95 price is a 4 day intro fee… after that they charge a monthly rate for the unlimited service.

Please note again that Inteligator is not our product… we do not have any product but are simply providing opinions and information about the different products out there.

      Hope that helps!

You need to send an email to cancellations@inteligator.com in order to end your subscription with them.

Comment by elizabeth upchurch | October 1, 2009 | Reply

    • So when did you originally sign up and when did you then submit your cancellation? I spoke with my contact at Inteligator and they indicated that it may take a day or two to process your cancellation (someone does it manually) but that as long as they receive your email within 24 hours of the completion of the 4 day trial period, the subscription will be canceled.

Would you please let me know if the dates of your original purchase and then when you sent the cancellation? I would like to track and see if they follow through on their committment.

      Comment by PublicRecordSearch | October 1, 2009 | Reply

      • They don’t “follow through on their commitment” and I think you know that from the barrage of cancellation requests littering your blog. Are you part of the company? That would explain how you are able to “speak with your contact at Inteligator” while the rest of us helplessly watch the company drain our bank accounts. What help are you really? Are you their hired damage control? Why can’t we speak to them? After all, it’s our money lining their (your) pockets.

        Comment by Kim | July 1, 2014

      • Kim,

I am not part of their company. And I unfortunately no longer have any contacts over there after writing this article. I run a review site that focuses on background check companies. When Inteligator first got started several years back, I tested them out and it seemed like a decent product so I was recommending them. It became apparent very quickly that they were not being honest with their cancelation policy so I removed them from my list of recommendations and wrote this article trying to help people like yourself who are struggling to get a cancelation processed. I think that Inteligator’s practices are criminal and disgusting to put it lightly. I wrote this to help but I have been blasted by you and many others along the way… I can understand why you are so angry though so I am not taking it personally. I keep taking the time to respond to these posts even 4 years later because I am trying to help. If you paid via credit card, you need to contact your credit card company to get a charge back… this will hurt both inteligator and clickbank (the company processing their payments in many cases). If you paid via paypal, contact paypal to dispute the charges. That is the only thing I think that will get them to stop what they are doing.

I have worked with Inteligator support in the past and they are always completely willing to make things right. I also know that your being charged 3 times is an error and not a conscious act. If you don’t hear back from them by tomorrow, please let me know and I have a contact there that I can speak with.

  15. By canceling my membership before the 4 day trial period, does that mean I receive my money back?

    Comment by Janet | October 30, 2009 | Reply

    • You will have to ask Inteligator about that. Their email address for customer support is support@inteligator.com. From what I have read in their Terms and Conditions, if you cancel before the 4 day trial ends, you are not billed any subsequent monthly payments. The original $4.95 is not something they refund. That is the price of the unlimited 4 day trial. If you feel you deserve your money back for some reason, you can always request a refund but make sure you give a good reason for this request. It is the same as walking into a store and asking for a refund. If you just want to for the heck of it, most times they won’t allow it. If the product is defective or something like that, they usually refund the money.

In the case of Inteligator, in my testing, it is not a “defective product” at all. I was able to find a lot of information on those I searched for (including myself). But that doesn’t mean your experience is the same. If you didn’t find results or there was an error of some kind, I am sure they will refund your money completely.

Let me know how they respond. I have never heard of anyone not receiving a satisfactory resolution from Inteligator but I would like to know if this does happen as it would certainly impact my recommendation of their product!

If they don’t agree to your demands then let me know and I will be happy to share some other ideas on how to get your money back.

    • Jessica,

This is not the correct forum for requesting a refund. This is a blog about public record searches. We posted this article with instructions on how to cancel your Inteligator subscription as we saw it as a question several people were asking. But this is not in any way our product. We don’t have a product at all but simply offer our opinions on the various public record search products available on the internet.

In order to cancel your subscription, you need to send an email to cancellations@inteligator.com. I got this information right off of Inteligator’s Terms and Conditions page. I am not sure why so many people seem to not have any idea how to cancel the service as they clearly state exactly how to do it on their site.

From everything I have heard, Inteligator is very fast to honor any cancellation requests. If this is not the case for you, please let us know as it is something we keep track of!

      Good luck!

This article is meant as a public service to provide people with the cancellation instructions to end their subscription if they cannot find them on their own. We copied the instructions right off of the Inteligator.com site where they were clearly documented and easily accessible.

I am not aware of any phone number they have for support. Are you not able to send an email to cancellations@inteligator.com? That is all you have to do.

  23. Good day,

My husband signed up for the 4-day trial use of Inteligator Wednesday morning and found that he didn’t want to continue with the product, so he canceled it the next day. It is now Saturday and I have found that they took not only the intial $4.95 start up fee (which I know is non-refundable), but the $29.95 monthly fee. That’s jumping the gun as far as I’m concerned. I’m hoping this error will be rectified. This is just an FYI for you…

    Comment by Sally | November 28, 2009 | Reply

    • I wouldn’t be concerned about it at all! They probably just are out for the holidays and have no one processing the cancellations. As long as your cancellation request was sent prior to the end of the 4 day trial, then I am sure they will refund you the charge. If they simply cancel the subscription without refunding, then you should send a separate email requesting the refund. I would give them till Tuesday morning before doing anything else though as I assume they will have a lot of catching up to do come Monday morning.

Let me know how it works out!

Comment by chris bowen | December 31, 2009 | Reply

    • You get what you pay for. If you want an in-depth, high end background check report, then don’t think you are going to only pay $4.95. High end background checks cost at least $50 and sometimes much more. Inteligator is never going to provide that level of a report and that is not what they offer. It is a low cost background check that reports on basic information. It is a very inexpensive way to see if someone has a criminal record, is listed on a sex offender registry, or other basic public information. It does have value based on its cost which is why we recommend it.

If you need to run a background check that is more high end, there are several great companies we can recommend based off of our own testing.

As for cancelling your subscription, we have nothing to do with that. We do not own Inteligator. We posted this article on how to cancel your subscription with them because we were trying to help people out who didn’t understand the process. Just send an email to cancellations@inteligator.com and your subscription will be cancelled.

Please let us know if they do not respond. If we ever find out that they are not cancelling peoples accounts after they follow these steps, we will immediately stop recommending them as a low cost background check option. So far, everyone we have communicated with has had their account cancelled after following these instructions.

      Good luck to you!

You need to follow their instructions which we included in this article and send an email to cancellations@inteligator.com. Give them a few days to fulfill your request and please let us know if they do not honor your request. So far, we have yet to find a person who has not had their account cancelled once the request is made.

We posted this article to help people who were unsure how to cancel their Inteligator subscription. We simply copied and pasted the instructions directly from Inteligator’s main website.

According to their instructions, you just need to send an email to cancellations@inteligator.com. If you do not receive a satisfactory response, please let us know as it will have an impact on our rating of their service.

I tried leaving it blank and it just came up as an error so i went in to my email and just sent the cancellation to the address provided. I hope it works! They also did not mention that you have to cancel with in 24 hours in the four day trial!!! thank you

Comment by carla moore | January 28, 2010 | Reply

    • I am not sure I understand what you mean by “the same thing happened to me with the cc”? Please give me more detail so I understand what is going on? Perhaps Inteligator has something to fix in the email process?

On the other note. When I read their Terms and Conditions for the 4 day trial period, they did state that the cancellation request must be received 24 hours prior to the end of the 4 days. I am not saying I agree or disagree with this policy. It just is their policy at this time.

Let me know on the cc thing so I can find out if there is anything going on that shouldn’t.

This site does not own Inteligator.com. This is just an opinion blog. This article details exactly what you need to do in order to cancel your subscription; that is, send an email to cancellations@inteligator.com. They usually process cancellations within 2 business days. If you are billed after submitting your cancellation request, submit a separate request asking for a refund and state that you did submit your cancellation request before the deadline.

Please let us know if they do not respond to you.

Please refer to the instructions in this article again as we do not own Inteligator but simply provided this information to guide those needing information on how to cancel their subscription. Please note that we copied these instructions directly from the Inteligator.com website. You must send your cancel request to cancellations@inteligator.com rather than contacting us. As you can see, you are not the only person to make this mistake. From what I have learned, inteligator is very prompt in processing subscription termination requests though it does appear that they only work on them during normal business hours. So send them your request at the abovementioned email address and please let us know if you do not receive a satisfactory response!

Are you saying that you have sent emails to cancelltions@inteligator.com and not had your account closed? If so, when did you email them? We have never heard of anyone who sent in a cancel request that was not honored.

We wrote this article on how to cancel an inteligator subscription as it was a question that several people were asking. We simply copied the cancellation instructions from the Inteligator.com website. According to Inteligator, all you have to do is send them an email requesting your subscription be terminated. Their email address for these requests is cancellations@inteligator.com.

If you do not receive a satisfactory response from them, please let us know as we would no longer recommend them if that were the case. So far they have quickly responded to any cancellation request that we have heard of so we are sure you will have the same experience.

    • I am sorry that this has been confusing for you. Let me first state once again that we do not own Inteligator.com. This is just a blog where we share our opinions and try to help people who are using public record search products. A lot of people were asking us how to cancel their subscription to inteligator so we wrote this article. All the information we posted comes directly from Inteligator.com’s Terms and Conditions page which is right off their home page.

Based on what you wrote in your comment, it appears that you are trying to access the cancellations@inteligator.com as if it is a website. It is not. It is an email address. That is why, when you click on it, your computer tries to launch your default email program. YOu apparently do not have a default email program setup on your computer which is why you are getting an error. I assume you do have an email account with some service. All you need to do is send an email to the address cancellations@inteligator.com and request that they cancel your subscription. They will then process your request and your account will be cancelled. We know this works as many before you have done the same thing with favorable results.

Please let me know if you have any more questions and I will be happy to help if possible.

  58. Hi Izzy,

First of all let me tell you that I do not own, nor do I work for/with Inteligator.com. This is just a blog where I write opinionated articles about my experiences with different public record search products. I wrote this article as many people were asking me how to cancel their inteligator accounts (even though I have NOTHING TO DO WITH THEM). I went to their website and found the instructions on how to cancel and posted it in the article you read. I did this to help people and, as you can see, many people have benefitted from this information. You need to send your emails to cancellations@inteligator.com. They will cancel your account within a day or two depending on how backedup they are (at least that has been my experience). Also, tell them that you were unsatisfied and demand a complete refund of all money you spent (even the free trial). If they don’t give you the refund, please email me at admin@completereviews.net an I will be happy to help you get a full refund as I have a lot of experience with the many background check providers out there.

As for your feeling that they are a scam. I would be interested in knowing why you feel that way. I tested them out personally by running background checks on over 10 people. They were not the best provider I have tested but they were decent. I really would like to hear abour your experience as it will have an impact on whether or not I recommend them to anyone.

Again, I am sorry you are so upset and would be happy to help you out if they don’t respond to you. Please remember that I do not own nor do I work for inteligator. They are a completely different company and I have no control over them. I am just trying to be helpful!

I hope to hear from you again.

    Comment by rabner80 | August 17, 2010 | Reply

    • Not sure why that would happen. I beleive inteligator has a customer support email listed on their site where you can ask them for help. Otherwise, I would recommend you use a more robust and reliable service. Inteligator is more low end as far as online background checks go.. but at least it is cheap if you took advantage of their 4 day trial. Cheap doesn’t matter though if it was useless for you! Just wasted money. Email me at admin@completereviews.net if you would like help finding a real background check product that will provide reliable results.

  72. I was charged the trial fee and could not access anything concerning my own record. I paid the 29.95 fee 2 access more and was still unable to access anything it just wanted me to pay 29.95 again and I confirmed the amount was taken from my bank account. I am very dissatisfied and want both amounts refunded. The service I paid for was not made available to me.

    • I recommend you email cancellations@inteligator.com and demand a full refund. They are required by their processor to provide full refunds within 60 days if you are unsatisfied. Don’t take no for an answer. If they do not respond to your demand then email me at admin@completereviews.net and I can help you as I know who processes their payments. Please remember that I am not associated with inteligator. I am just trying to help people with this blog.

    • Did you read the article? We do not own inteligator so we cannot process any request to cancel a subscription you have with their product. We wrote this article to help people who were confused as to the required procedure. A pop3 error would be a problem with your mail client and likely has nothing to do with inteligator. I personally have helped tons of people cancel their accounts and every one of them has done so by sending an email to cancellations@inteligator.com so it does work.

      Hope that helps!

Did you actually read the article you commented on? If not, please go back and read the instructions listed in detail on the procedure for cancelling an account with inteligator. As it states WE DO NOT OWN INTELIGATOR so you cannot post a comment to our blog or even send us an email asking us to cancel your subscription to a product we have no ownership in. As we wrote in the article, Inteligator states on their Terms page that you must send them an email to cancellations@inteligator in order to have your account terminated.

Have you sent your cancelation request emails to cancelations@inteligator.com? If so, they seem to respond from what I have heard. You can also demand a refund from them. If they tell you no, then threaten to go to Clickbank.com. Clickbank is the company that processes their payments. You can also go directly to clickbank.com and there should be a way to ask for a refund. They are really good about giving all your money back as they want to maintain their reputation.

EVEN A MONKEY COULD FOLLOW THESE INSTRUCTIONS!

IF YOU DON’T KNOW HOW TO SEND AN EMAIL THEN LOOK IT UP ON GOOGLE.

IF YOU ARE WORRIED ABOUT GETTING CHARGED FOR SOMETHING YOU DON’T WANT THEN NEXT TIME USE A DISPOSABLE VISA GIFT CARD WITH LIMITED FUNDS ON IT.

MAYBE YOU ALREADY HAVE ONE THAT YOU HAVE FORGOTTEN ABOUT.

OTHERWISE GET YOUR BANK TO STOP THE CHARGES.

TAKE SOME RESPONSIBILITY FOR YOUR ACTIONS!

I assume you read my article and followed the instructions. Did you send your email to cancellations@inteligator.com? Please double-check your spelling as many people have spelled cancellations with 1 L.

Have you received any errors when sending your message or any response at all? Instead of an email you can try going to http://www.inteligator.com/home/help.php?subject=cancelation Inteligator now provides a form you can fill out to submit your request.

If none of that works, then go to ClickBank.com and look for a contact number. Tell them that you purchased Inteligator service and have been trying to cancel for a long time but you keep getting billed. This will fix it for you, I guarantee it!

  112. im not sure if this website even gets checked anymore but thanks for the info cause i was a member for 10 days. they claimed i wld be charged the $4.95 then future payments of $19.95 after that. i did it to help a friend that is in a costody battle with a very abusive man who does not really even want the small child involved but just wants to ruin her life since she finally worked up the nerve to leave him. anyways in those 10 days i was charged 8 times, the ttl came to over $100.00 which came at the worst time due to financial difficulties due to a move. i did not sign up to pay this much and even tho i figured there wld be extra fees this is rediculous! i have cancelled, i worry they will contenue taking mny that i cant give. how do i go about getting a refund and is it even possible. after some digging ive found similar complants and if they dont refund me i will call the local news channel and the attorney general cause this litterally made me sick to my stomach! i am a single mother of two small children. i am not rich by any means, this is just wrong and it goes to show that you just cant trust many. ive never paid for anything online for fear of this exact thing happening and i never will again. they are taking food from my childrens mouths!

    • Hello Lori,

I am sorry you have had to deal with such a difficult situation! I would love to help you out. Please remember that I do not own Inteligator. I just wrote this article to help people out who were confused about how to terminate their subscription with inteligator.com.

So first off, you need to make sure you have either sent an email to cancellations@inteligator.com requesting they cancel your subscription or go to their link at http://www.inteligator.com/home/help.php?subject=cancelation which basically is the same thing.

Next you need to get your refund. You can try demanding a full refund from Inteligator in the same email you send above or you can go straight to the company that processes their payments which is ClickBank.com. ClickBank will make sure that you are taken care of and, in my experience, will not hesitate to refund your money. Just go to http://www.clickbank.com and look for a link at the top called “Order Help”. They can straighten this situation out for you.

If you have any other questions, you are welcome to email me directly at admin@completereviews.net and I will be happy to help you!

  115. Hi… I only request and payed for the 4 days service. It was april 8.
I asked Inteligator to cancel my service april 11.
I did what they say in the web page:
“To cancel your trial or your monthly subscription plan please email us: support@inteligator.com“. But they didn´t answer and charged also the $29,95 for the complete month.
So you are recommending to use cancelations@inteligator.com . How is that?
The web site ask to write to support@inteligator.com.

    Then? SOS

Comment by zoila paz | April 13, 2011 | Reply

    • I went to their FAQ section and it lists the following…

“How do I cancel my subscription?

Question: How do I cancel my trial or my monthly recurring subscription?

Answer: If you wish to cancel your trial or your monthly subscription membership please send us an email: cancellations@inteligator.com. For the trials please make sure that you send us an email at least 24 hours before the last trial day.”

The tricky thing is that they have changed the spelling of the word “cancellations” a few times so it is hard to know exactly what to do. In one section they listed the email address as “cancelations@inteligator.com” and on this new one it is “cancellations@inteligator.com”.

At this point, your best bet is to go to the following link which they have provided… http://www.inteligator.com/home/help.php?subject=cancelation

This link will take you to a page they have setup to assist in this process.

Hope that helps and I will also update the article again to match their ever-changing rules!

  120. I dont want to come off as a jerk but will everyone please read the article before you comment. This dude is trying to help you cancel. This dude doesnt own or have anything to do with inteligator. It seems like most of you deserve this. You probably didnt read the services provided by the background check website initially and thought you were going to get the universe for $4.95. READ BEFORE YOU POST. It is not that hard people.

  121. It is sad to see that nobody took the time to READ what this blog is about. This blog reviews Inteligator.

To cancel your subscription: click there –> http://www.inteligator.com/home/help.php?subject=cancelation

Please do not be so harsh on the person who wrote this blog out of public interest. It amazes me to see he has been so polite and helpful all along with all of the people here.

Most of the time, we find that the problems people have are not Inteligators fault and / or mistake but are mere there due to incapability by the user in regards to properly using the appropriate means of communicating open to Inteligator.

If I read that people do not know that an email is not an url, then I am asking them first to educate themselves how to use the internet before branding something to be a scam.

There are several people who successfully cancel the subscription. Ask yourself why you are not one of them, but instead are posting your request on the COMPLETE wrong site.

That might get you in the right direction.

    Thank you.

  124. Hi Kay,

I am very interested in how you are using Inteligator. If you are using it as some official background checks related to a business then someone has sold you a lie. Inteligator is in no way authorized to provide any official documents and cannot be used in any legal decisions such as employment screening, tenant screening, etc.

I would be happy to help you personally in this situation if you are interested in talking to someone. Email me at admin@completereviews.net and I would be happy to help point you in the right direction to ensure you are getting what you need from a business standpoint. If you have been sold this product dishonestly then I would love to try and get them to refund your money as that makes me very angry. I do not work for Ingeligator but I am very familiar with their procedures and have had great success in getting refunds for customers who are upset/angry at their experience.

Hope to hear from you soon.

What’s even worse is that this nice, patient gentleman has to rewrite a response, mind you in a hundred different ways, hoping to pound it into your brains, that: HE IS NOT INTELIGATOR!!!!!! He is not affiliated with INTELIGATOR. Jeez, I feel more annoyed by this ignorance than dealing with the cancellation fiasco with Inteligator. Please read people, read and comprehend.

I am sorry you got pulled into the Inteligator marketing machine! They make it so easy to sign up but such a pain to cancel. Sounds like you have done the right thing. From what I have seen, they usually take a couple of business days to process a cancellation request so give it till Tuesday. If they charge you again I can help you get a refund as I am familiar with the company that processes their payments. In fact, you can even get your initial payment back if you want to take the time. Just email me at admin@completereviews.net and I will be happy to help. I also know of some really good background check sites which could help you find your friend’s uncle.

    • Brian,

What are you talking about? The last few posts make it seem as if you and I have had an ongoing conversation but unfortunately I have not been part of the discussion. I presume you have been in contact via email with someone at Inteligator??? Do you realize that this blog has nothing to do with inteligator??? All I did was write an article to help people who were struggling to figure out how to cancel what I consider to be a very deceiving monthly billing program. I did not receive any money as a result of you signing up for something with Inteligator. Please direct your frustrations to the appropriate people… Inteligator.

As a side note, if you really want to pursue getting a refund on the original money you spent I can give you some guidance on how to do that as I have learned a lot about inteligator over the years. Feel free to reply to this comment if you want to take the time to pursue that action. You should always get a refund from any company when you are not satisfied with their service or product!

So how is a person suppose to cancel their account? I was charged for two months and I never used it. I was not aware that I would be charged monthly. I will be contacting my Attorney Gerneral’s office about this matter. I don’t like loosing money. They make so hard to cancel the account older people can’t do all of this. • First of all please remember that this blog is not affiliated with Inteligator.com. I wrote this article trying to help people who are struggling with knowing how to cancel their monthly subscriptions as I feel that Inteligator is a bit deceptive in how they setup the billing. I am not sure why you are having problems with the cancelation. If you have followed their instructions and they are still billing you then you should contact your AG office. I just went to Inteligator’s site again and re-read their terms page and they say you can go to the following link to cancel.. http://www.inteligator.com/home/help.php?subject=cancelation.

You should also demand that they refund all your money immediately. If they refuse let me know as I believe I will be able to give you some advice to help you out.

Inteligator’s most recent terms page states that you can go to http://www.inteligator.com/home/help.php?subject=cancelation to cancel. I would recommend you also demand a full refund and tell them that if they don’t you will contact your credit card company. I assume they will comply with your demands.

Also, in the future if you wish to no longer get yourself in frustrating situations, READ the terms and conditions before you sign up for any sort of trial, free trial or even a straight up membership. READ the fine print if a site offers a significant discount to their normal pricing for you to sign up for some sort of service… make sure you know what you are committing to as part of the discount. Hope this saves you some heartache in the future!

If it is a legitimate company, they should have a phone number by which to contact them. Comment by Robert James Foley | March 9, 2012 | Reply

    • Hi Robert,

You would think that any legitimate company that is selling services to customers would be required to provide a phone number where they can be contacted but they do not. This is one of the reasons why I have been vocal against them. The only way you can interact with them is via email which puts you at their mercy as to how, when or if they will respond to you. You could certainly email them and request the opportunity to speak with someone. I do know a lot more about inteligator and how they do business and am willing to answer any questions you may have. I will email you directly and we can communicate further.

    • Patrick,

I seriously cannot believe you are attacking me here? If you actually have read through the hundreds of comments on this article you will see that I respond to every one of them… something I do out of the kindness of my heart. This takes a lot of my personal time and I get absolutely nothing for it other than the satisfaction of helping people. Why would you even say that I am affiliated with them? Do you see me recommending their services? My articles regarding inteligator state that I believe it to be a bad service which is taking advantage of people and then I provide detailed instructions on how to cancel their service. You know how I got those instructions??? By reading Inteligator’s “Terms” page which is linked on their homepage… something you should absolutely have done prior to giving them your credit card! Why would you sign up for anything on the internet without first reading the details of how they charge, how much they charge and how you can get out of the agreement?? If you had taken 5 minutes to do that you would not be in this mess! All I did for my article is read that page and provide the same information in my article.

I am sorry you are frusrated. I obviously know how you feel as I have been helping people in your situation for years now. But you seriously make me want to delete this article entirely with how you choose to attack me instead of the company taking advantage of you! I can’t tell you how many times I have been vilified by people like you who have no business even being on the internet if they aren’t willing to be responsible in how they purchase. I do hope you get your money back and I usually offer to help people individually if they are having issues getting a refund as I do know a lot about this industry and how to put pressure on companies like Inteligator. I am still be willing to help you if you need it but not until you publicly apologize for what you have said! As for your lawyer sister… feel free to have her contact me directly at admin@completereviews.net.

I was extremely disappointed in Inteligator. Searches were so basic and outdated that I knew it wasn’t going to work. I tried to find a number on day one to cancel but thought I’d give it another try the next day…by the next day I changed my mind, searched the site on how to cancel, followed instructions and sent an email to the required address asking they cancel. I did not get a confirmation so on day 3 I sent yet another email at 2:15 PM on day 3 requesting they cancel. Still no response but considering I had placed my order at 3:08PM a few days earlier I felt comfortable that I had met their terms of service and I would not be billed. Not so. I was billed 19.95 through paypal at 7:46am 5-27-12. I have disputed the paypal payment as unauthorized and once again emailed the company…we’ll see what happens.

    • Hello Amanda,

Thank you for your comments! The experience you have shared is exactly why I took the time to write this article and why I continue to maintain it after nearly 3 years. I am honestly shocked that they haven’t been either put out of business or at least required to provide a contact phone number. This whole email thing is ridiculous and gives their customers no recourse when trying to cancel or contest a charge! I would assume you will be able to get your money back by contesting the charge through Paypal and honestly, that may be the best way to go about fighting them as Paypal may eventually stop servicing Inteligator charges if they get enough complaints.

If, however that does not work I have some other ways through which you may be able to pressure them for a full refund (even of the wasted dollar you spent on the trial). Feel free to email me directly if you would like at admin@completereviews.net.

      Good luck to you!

      • I just checked my email and clickbank has not responded to my unauthorized charge claim on paypal regarding Inteligator. I am certainly glad I chose to use paypal for this trial as I do feel the process of reporting and making a claim is much more simple. In my many years of service on paypal I have only had to make one other such complaint. It’s disappointing that a company is able to continue on in business with such blatant disregard for it’s customers. Inteligator has also not responded to any of my 3 emails to their cancellation email address. I am taking the holiday weekend into account and have decided to give them another day or two to respond…However as a small business owner myself I am appalled by their lack of customer service. When you offer a 4 day trial with an option to cancel and not be billed you should have someone available to cancel trials daily regardless of a holiday. I will certainly email you directly and thank you for your response!

      • I am not surprised at all. I don’t know this for sure but I believe they only have 1 or 2 people covering their mailbox to handle the cancellation requests. Consequently, there is no way they can keep up with the demand and they seem to be constantly behind. The really bad side of this is the fact that their billing procedures are all automated so if they don’t get to your email in before the deadline hits then you are charged… even if you sent your request prior to their deadline. I would assume that many people just give up and say it isn’t worth my time to fight for 20 bucks but like you said, it is amazing that they are still in operation with such a negative customer experience. I feel their business practices are not only inconvenient but also unethical!

Aside from your complaint via Paypal, I would recommend you state in your cancellation email to inteligator that you want a full refund of all charges. If they do not honor this request shoot me an email as I have a few other things which may help you.

        Good luck as always!

      • Thank you! The whole process seems shady to me. It would not be difficult to automate the cancellation process just as it wasn’t difficult to automate the billing…and the fact that they have not simplified the cancellation process just screams fraudulent to me. You are right. A lot of people would just never notice a recurring charge or if they DID many would just take the loss and not fight it much and it seems that is exactly what these guys are hoping for. I did receive two emails from Inteligator today. The first said that they would cancel my membership and would be certain I would NOT be billed in the future…then they must have opened the more detailed email after I had been billed…where I detailed that I cancelled 24 hours in advance as they required and wondered why my credit card had been billed anyway…they responded to say that due to the problems I was experiencing with accessing their site they would refund the charge. Were they not going to refund me already? I’m guessing not. I then received approximately 4 emails from clickbank.com confirming that my refund of 19.95 was on it’s way back to me within the next few days. Good deal, but it shouldn’t have happened…the fact that around 150 people are on YOUR site complaining is disturbing. How many has this happened to when 150 people mistake another persons blog for the site they are desperately trying to cancel with? I’d love to see some accountability for these people.

    • If inteligator continues to bill you then I would absolutely call your bank. I have no control over their policies. I simply wrote an article to help people know how to cancel.

  168. Thanks for creating this blog post. I cancelled my ($4.95) subscription the same day I ordered it, received confirmation of cancellation emails, and then was billed $29.95 a few weeks later (today). I’m pretty p!ssed off about it. I did use your contact info from the blog to email their customer service. It’s funny they don’t have any contact info on their website to contact them after your order has been placed. Anyways, on another note, sorry there are so many D-bags that can’t read and are trying to cancel their subscription here :-). -N

  169. Hello.
Many people misunderstood for your blog.
I sent a mail to them asking cancel my account.
    I charged $29.95 five times.
I am foreigner living in s.korea. I just want to find my aunt once. But the site didn’t have any information.
Recently I recognize they charged 5 times.

    • Email them again demanding a full refund of all your money or threaten to go to ClickBank.com to complain if they do not comply. Or just file a complaint directly with ClickBank.com or through your credit card company.

  170. I signed up for this service 3 and 1/2 hours ago, This is a scam they do not have any information on anyone other than a persons name and address which can be easily gotten through the phone company. I hereby wish to cancell my 4 day subscription now.

    • Did you read the article you posted your comment to?? It tells you how to cancel. This is a blog article, not the Inteligator site.

  171. The $2.95 4 day trial did not help me in any way, I tried to cancel same day, sent a cancellation email daily and now 6 days later, still have not heard from the company and I was just charged the $19.95 on my bank account. I just emailed again stating to them I’ve been trying to cancel since the first day and would like this account cancelled immediately and my money refunded to me. I’ve never had so many problems with a company in my entire life. Wish I would have come across this blog before I ordered. Hopefully I’ll get my refund. Best of luck to you all.

    • I am sorry to hear about your experience! This is exactly why I wrote this article! Unfortunately, in your case following their confusing rules isn’t even helping. What I would recommend you do is threaten to report them to Clickbank.com and also refute the charge with you CC company. Demand a full refund… even of the trial which was worthless. If that doesn’t work, post here again or email me at admin@completereviews.net and I can give you another step to take. If you still need to run a real background check then go to http://www.CompleteReviews.net and you will find sites I have personally tested. Hope this helps!

  174. I have emailed the cancellation email 3 times now. The first on Dec 5. I do get the confirmation that my email was received but I never actually hear back from anyone and the charges have continued. I’m now up to $119.80 of charges I didn’t authorize and no one to call. (I have also gone through clickbank and tried to report the order but the site wont work and I’ve been on hold with them for over 30 minutes each time I’ve tried to call them.) Can you offer any suggestions?

    • I am sorry to hear about your experience… I have heard it over and over which is what prompted me to create this article! If you are not receiving any response from Inteligator or Clickbank then you need to go through your payment vendor. If you used a credit card, dispute the charges. Same for Paypal. You should have no problem winning the dispute as you can show the email attempts. Document every time you have tried to cancel.

  178. this is a complete SCAM! I’ve gotten to the point to where I’m not giving anybody online on TV or anywhere my credit card infoI have done nothing in the last three years, but get scammed, every single time I do this! all these terms and conditions it’s another way for them to keep ur money billing you! can you believe I even got scammed by my health care provider of which I’ve been going to since 2005.?ben actually gave me phony financial records!the world in which we live todayhas become so ugly

Comment by Carol DeLucia | July 10, 2014 | Reply

    • I agree that it is a scam which is why I wrote this article. My recommendation is that you never purchase anything like this online without reading reviews of the company. All you have to do is search for the terms “Inteligator” and “Scam” and you will find plenty of info. Do a little research before giving you credit card to anyone.. on or offline.
