Do You Need a Free Background Check?

Is there a way to run a free background check?

So the most frequent question I get asked is, “How do I run a background check for free?”.  My response has always been, “It is not possible”.  And that has been the truth… until now.  Under normal circumstances, background checks cannot possibly be free and I would advise everyone to be extremely skeptical and suspicious of any site advertising any type of background check for “free”.  Most everyone who asks me about free background checks tells me that they have seen them advertised all over the internet but when they follow the link, they are required to pay.  It is frustrating to see how many dishonest advertisers there are out there just trying to lure you in with false promises of a free product that does not exist!

So how is what I am about to tell you any different from all those other advertisements?  Continue reading

Best Online Background Check Site of 2013!

I am so excited to write about a background check company I just finished testing for the consumer review site CompleteReviews.net.  My experience has been so amazing that they instantly shot to the top of my recommendation list.  The site is ussearch.com.  Now, just because I recently found them does not mean they are a new company.  On the contrary, ussearch.com has been providing high-end people search and other advanced search services, such as background checks, since 1994.

One of the most impressive testimonials to the power of ussearch.com came from CBS News 60 minutes.  In August of 2007, 60 Minutes ran a segment called, “Lost and Found” which documented the need to find relatives for children in the foster care system.  They focused on a 13 year old girl who had been in foster care her whole life.  The state considered this young girl to be a “cold case” due to Continue reading

How to Run a Background Check on your Nanny

For so many of us, it is an unfortunate reality that we cannot be with our children as much as we might wish.  Life demands so much of us and the need to keep our children safe and cared for often forces us to trust others with that care.  I am intimately aware of the worry that constantly eats away at you when someone else is caring for your child… especially when that child is too young to tell you about how things are with their caretaker.  You do all you can to ensure that you hire someone who will be kind and caring.  But how can you truly know who that person is?  What do they act like when you are away?  Is there anything in their past that, if you were to know about it, would keep you from hiring them? Continue reading

How To Run A Background Check On Summer Camp Employees

It’s that time of year again…  When we send our young ones off to summer camps so we can get a mini summer break for ourselves.. oh, and so they can learn new things and make new friends as well!  Some of my fondest memories from childhood surround those few weeks I would spend at various camps.  Unfortunately, I also remember some pretty scary camp employees!  We live in a time of uncertainty where it is becoming more and more difficult to trust those we charge with caring for our children.  In today’s world, it is very hard to feel totally at ease when sending your child to any summer camp, whether it lasts one day or even two weeks.  How do we keep our children safe when they are away? How to Run a Background Check on Your Child’s Teacher

We live in a time of uncertainty where it is becoming more and more difficult to trust those we charge with caring for our children.  When I first considered utilizing online background check services to ensure the safety of my daughter, I felt a little nervous… Was this an invasion of that person’s privacy?  After much thought, I came to the conclusion that my daughter’s safety is more important than anything and outweighs all other factors.  Plus, all a background check service does is search databases full of public record information… stuff we have a legal right to know!  It’s not like you are hiring a private investigator to take pictures of them or dig through their trash (both of those are legal but start to cross my personal boundary into creepiness). Continue reading

Reverse Email Lookup: CompleteReviews.net Recommended Sites

Of all the public record search products, reverse email lookup is one of the most difficult to find.  Not many companies offer this service and to be honest, the results success rate is lower than with other products.  The reason is that so many companies like Yahoo and Google allow users to easily create email accounts based on phony credentials.  But that is no cause for concern as the reverse email lookup sites recommended by CompleteReviews.net have a “No Hit, No Pay” policy. How To Conduct An Online Background Check

Online Background Checks have become one of the hottest markets on the internet.  Literally hundreds of sites dedicated to public record searching have appeared in just the last few months.  Public record information is big business and Online Background Checks are the backbone of that business.

First of all, why would your average consumer need to run an online background check on someone?  Some of the reasons may include:

  1. If you run a small business, running a basic background check on prospective (and current) employees is a very wise and safe business practice.
  2. As a parent, background checks provide a powerful weapon in the battle to protect your children.  Don’t just hope your children are safe at the home of a school friend.
  3. Dating is hard enough without having to worry about what kind of person your companion really is.  If you are starting up a new relationship, make sure you truly know who that person is.  You cannot believe how much information is available!
  4. What if you are interested in locating an old friend from your youth.  Most public search sites offer People Locator services as a part of their background screening.

These are just a few of the many examples of why these services are so valuable to the average consumer.  The reasons to use them are endless and the amount of data available with just a few clicks of a mouse is truly mind-blowing!

So how do you run an online background check?  In the paper world of yesterday, this would involve fingerprints, forms in triplicate, personal identification cards, etc.  Today, all you need is a cell phone number or sometimes even an email address.  The easiest way to start is generally with the person’s name and at least the city they live in.  The more information you have up front, the easier it is to narrow down your search so that you get the report on the right person.  The steps are very basic:

  1. Go to the Online Background Check site of your choice.
  2. Enter the information you already have on the person in the search fields provided.  This generally includes Name, Phone Number and/or Address.
  3. Conduct the general search.  A list of potential “hits” will be generated along with some basic identifying information so that you can make sure you have the right John Doe.
  4. Once your search is narrowed down to the correct person, run the Background Check.

A word of caution… make sure you narrow your search down to the correct individual prior to running the full background report or you may pay for information you do not want.  Once the report is run, you cannot get your money back.  That is why all the legitimate services allow a pre-search option.

Most sites create a full report which you can save to your computer or print off for future reference.  The kind of information you can expect to receive in the report includes:

  • Full name including known aliases
  • Address history
  • Phone number history
  • Financial information such as 1st and 2nd mortgage amounts.
  • Criminal History
  • Arrest Record

Bear in mind this is a small list.  The actual reports contain tons of information.  This is just an example of types of data you may receive.

So how do you go about choosing a reliable Online Background Check service?  By far the easiest (and safest) way to go is to utilize online consumer review sites.  Review sites do the research and testing so that you don’t have to.  They weed out the inferior products and make sure that the best products are recognized.  www.CompleteReviews.net is a review site dedicated to Public Record Search products.  They provide in-depth reviews on all the various public record search offerings and rank the top 3 services in each category.

Online Background Checks are powerful tools in our high tech world.  They provide us with safety and security in our uncertain world.

Using Reverse Cell Phone Search For Security Reasons

In years gone by, private investigators were able to call in some favors at the phone company and find out who owned a particular phone number.  Police have always been able to obtain this information if necessary.  The ability to search for the owner of a landline phone has been available to the public for years, but only recently has reverse lookup been extended to cell phones.  Because the databases necessary to make this possible are in control of the individual cell phone service providers, obtaining this information is not free.  But, for a modest fee, the information available would stagger your mind!

So why do people use this technology?  There are many reasons, some of which are simple conveniences.  But there are some very serious reasons why this service may benefit you.  For example, in some cases, people use reverse cell phone lookups to identify and stop prank callers from harassing them continually.  In most situations, these prank callers are simply misguided kids thinking they are having fun.  But in some cases, it’s more serious than that.

Sometimes a prank call is just one step in a series of harassment or threatening behavior that is only seemingly harmless because of the anonymity of the prank caller.  While some may view a prank call as an irritation, others are truly terrorized by the idea of a stranger calling to determine if they are home or to disrupt their peace of mind.  By using reverse cell phone lookup, you can strip that veil of anonymity from the caller.  This takes the fun out of it for those who think it’s fun, and gets the serious callers a step closer to being caught by law enforcement officers.

Another serious benefit of reverse cell phone lookups is in determining who your children are speaking to on their cell phones.  In most cases, especially if parents and children have good, open lines of communication, this will not be a big issue.  But in the circumstance where a parent feels their child may be keeping something from them, or perhaps the child has been in trouble before, a parent may feel the need to keep a tighter hold on the leash, so to speak.  By checking out your child’s phone friends using a reverse cell phone search, you have the opportunity to cut off ties between your child and an unwanted associate.  Or, you can use the information you receive to open up a dialogue with your child, helping them reason on the pros and cons of associating with so-and-so.  Although the effort involved is potentially extensive, the results in this case are more than worth the effort.  So, in both cases, reverse cell phone lookup capability offers a huge benefit in resolving potentially serious situations before they get out of hand.

The Truth About Public Record Searching…

Public Records Searches have become a huge online business. It honestly scares me how much information anyone can find about me with only a few minutes of time and a web browser. Of course, that goes both ways. There are so many different reasons why a Public Records Search can come in handy or even downright necessary. For example, they can be extremely helpful when trying to protect your children.

Even though the source of all the data is the same, the products and services that access that data are very different. Prior to ever spending any money on a public records search services, it is important to know how they compare and which ones are real products versus scams. Review sites are a must as they independently rank the best public records search services. I recommend http://www.CompleteReviews.net for detailed reviews of all the top public records search services.

They break the public records search services into categories as there are so many different types of searches. They then rank the top three products in each of the following categories:

Unlimited Search services (the perfect solution for investigative parenting).
Bakground Check services.
Criminal Records searches.
Court Record Searches.
Social Security Number Record searches. (scary…)
Sex Offender Registry search services.
Reverse Phone Lookup services (a must have for anyone with a child who owns a cell phone).
Reverse eMail Lookup services (if your child is online, you need to check this out!)
Marriage Records search.
Divorce Records search.
Birth Records search.
Death Records search.
People Locator.
Commercial Grade Detective Products.
The most important thing to note is that you should never be tricked into paying for that which is easily accessible for free. Most public search records are by nature freely available. But that doesn’t mean they are easily accessible. And some of the records are not accessible at all without utilizing a paid service with access to the information.

Take Reverse Phone Lookups for example. You should rarely be charged for a landline phone number. The basic rule of thumb is that if it is listed in a phone book, you can find it for free. Services like http://www.whitepages.com and http://www.anywho.com are excellent resources. But how do you find the owner of an unlisted number or better yet, a cell phone? That is where Reverse Phone Lookups become essential. www.CompleteReviews.net/ ranks the top three best sites for these services.

Again, don’t get caught paying for easily accessible free services. Make sure the service is independently reviewed and rated and you will get what you pay for and more!

Reverse Phone Lookup

Reverse Phone Lookups have been a hot item for some time now. So many sites have popped up that offer to tell you exactly who owns a specific phone number. Are these searches a waste of money? Is it all a big scam? Yes and no…

First of all, we need to examine the difference between a Reverse Phone Lookup and Reverse Cell Phone Lookup. A good question to ask yourself is, “Can I likely find this phone number in a regular phone book?”. If the answer is “yes” then you should not be paying a service to report the owner of that phone number. All you need to do in this case is use any free phone listing service such as:

http://www.WhitePages.com

http://www.anywho.com

But if you are dealing with a cell phone or even an “unlisted” number, a paid service is the way to go. Again, however, there are many scams out there. I have seen some services that make you think they have results which you must pay to see only to find out that the results are incorrect or bogus. Of course, you cannot figure out how to get your money back.  I have done a lot of research and it is all includede on my review site for all Public Records Search www.CompleteReviews.net.

Being charged for a reverse phone lookup should never happen. Paying for an unlisted lookup or especially a cell phone is totally appropriate.
